There is a few budget places between Dam Square, the Red Light District and the Centraal Station.
Amsterdam is one of Europe’s coolest cities. It’s hip,
trendy very open and friendly to all sorts of foreigners.
It’s people are famous for being inventive defending their
from the water since the 17th century. The city lies below
sea level and its thanks to the smart architecture and
powerful engineering of the dutch that their experience
hardly any floods at all.
One of Amsterdam’s symbol is the bikes. There are everywhere
and one has to watch out for them especially when on foot
and crossing over the street and bike pathes. But its
also symbolic for the reduced traffic in downtown Amsterdam.
The air is clean and fresh and especially young people
love to rent a party boat to cruise around the canals
on a sunny day.
If you want to go for a stroll or sit in a cafe, bar
or coffee shop to watch people and lay back for a while
than you sould check out the Leidseplein in Amsterdam.
There is lots of activity especially in the summer time
and perhaps the bussiest place for drinking and perfect
to start a longer night out.
Of course there is the famous Red Light District in Amsterdam,
probably the best known in Europe. Very different to many
places in Europe with similar purpose, the Red Light District
in Amsterdam is laid out in a kind of romantic way. Small
lanes, where the girls are, consistently separated by
several canals east of Damrak and south of the Central
Railway Station (Centraal Amsterdam). For some visitors
that have been to Italy before the canals may easily remember
on Venice. It’s really woth it to go for a boat tour whether
at day or night time.
Accommodation in Amsterdam
Amsterdam hotels are in general set to two different prices. One price from Sunday night to Thursday night and a slightly elevated price, usually 20% up,
for Friday to Saturday night. Rooms and services are the same but its more to cash up the tones of weekend citybreakers staying over the weekend for a few fun days
before going back to work on Monday morning. For those of you with ver low budgets, there is a very good choice of
about 100 budget places to stay. In those places you usually have to share a room with other fellow travellers. If you want a vacant private room
in the heart of Red Light District and Damrak to find one below £70 or £90 is already a pretty taff job. Of course there are plenty of
mid priced and luxury hotels as always. |
